Porky's Bar-B-Q
About This Spot
Stepping into Porky’s Bar-B-Q in China Grove feels like entering a cherished local gathering spot where the pace slows just enough to savor good food and familiar faces. Nestled along a welcoming stretch of Main Street, this casual barbecue joint exudes a warmth that invites conversation, laughter, and a sense of community, the kind that’s been built over years of neighborhood visits and shared meals.
The atmosphere carries the unmistakable charm of Southern hospitality, blending a down-to-earth vibe with moments of nostalgic comfort. It’s the lively hum of bustling lunchtime crowds balanced by friendly interactions that feel genuine, rather than routine. Here, the staff doesn’t just serve food—they connect with patrons as you might find in a close-knit town, where names are exchanged and stories unfold over plates piled high with hearty, home-style fare.
In a setting like this, meals become more than just nourishment—they’re celebrations of tradition served with a side of familiarity. The kitchen delivers an array of satisfying choices that balance the smoky richness of classic barbecue with comforting breakfast staples and fresh seafood. Whether it’s the crispy hush puppies that tease your bite, the tangy homemade ranch that elevates a buffalo chicken wrap, or the robust flavors of baby back ribs and tender chopped pork, each dish feels thoughtfully made to please without fuss.
Beyond the food, what lingers is the joy of sharing a moment here—whether over a glass of sweet iced tea, a plate meant for digging in, or the simple pleasure of snapping a photo with the iconic pig out front. Porky’s is one of those places where you feel welcomed whether you’re a local or just passing through, and where the experience is as much about the people and atmosphere as the menu itself.
For anyone exploring the heart of China Grove, Porky’s Bar-B-Q offers a taste of Southern comfort that goes beyond barbecue—it’s a genuine slice of community life.

We ordered their 10 piece mild chicken w/ blue cheese dip on the side. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked. It was a take out order. Always love to support locals.

Great spot for BBQ and other yummy sounding plates. First time here while I was visiting Eden for work. Staff were friendly. They got busy at lunch. Homemade ranch dressing (always good to know those places!). BBQ was good, hush puppies delicious and sweet, and good white slaw. Fries were ok just needed salt. Awesome sweet tea. I would love to try their other plates.

I love Porky's Buffalo Chicken Wrap. I dream about this wrap, it's so good. You also have to try the ranch dressing with it. They make their ranch homemade and it never disappoints. This place is perfect for all ages and it would be hard to find something you don't enjoy. Make sure to get a picture with the pig outside if you go!!!

This is the quintessential Southern BBQ place! I had seen some not great reviews recently, but our experience was very positive. The atmosphere was friendly and staff interacted with locals as you might see on an episode of Andy Griffith! Nicely nostalgic...In so many places these days, the staff seems annoyed to even be there. This felt different. We went on a Saturday for lunch. We did the family meal of sliced bbq and definitely had enough for 4 total plates, maybe even more. The 'pups' were a great texture, the sauces were on the table and not drowning the meat. The white slaw was crunchy and not too sweet and the beans actually had bacon in them! The homemade ranch dressing is a must. The portions are generous, and our server was very attentive and nice. We'll definitely be back
